Method
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into burger patties, slightly larger than the size of your lettuce leaves to account for shrinkage during cooking.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, cook the patties for 3-4 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- While the burgers cook, prepare the toppings by slicing the avocado, tomato, and red onion, and washing and patting the lettuce leaves dry.
- Once the burgers are cooked, remove them from the heat and let them rest for 2-3 minutes.
- To assemble, place a large lettuce leaf on a plate. Add one burger patty on top, followed by slices of avocado, tomato, red onion, and any optional condiments such as Dijon mustard or mayonnaise.
- Wrap the lettuce leaf around the burger and toppings, folding it tightly to create a secure wrap. Repeat the process for the second burger.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious lettuce-wrapped burger with avocado!
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding a slice of cheese or a dash of hot sauce. You can also use turkey or chicken instead of beef for a leaner option.
