Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • whisk
  • baking sheet
  • parchment paper
  • pastry brush
  • oven

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, stir together the melted butter, honey, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard until smooth.
  3. Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into triangles, then cut each triangle into 2 or 3 smaller strips, depending on the size of your sausages.
  4. Place one cocktail sausage at the wide end of each dough strip and roll it up snugly toward the tip.
  5. Arrange the wrapped sausages seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. If desired, brush lightly with beaten egg for extra shine.
  6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the sausages are heated through.
  7. Remove from the oven and immediately brush the warm glaze over each pig in a blanket. Sprinkle with poppy seeds or sesame seeds if using.
  8. Serve warm.

Notes

For the best texture, serve immediately after glazing. You can swap poppy seeds for sesame seeds, or omit them entirely. If your crescent dough is very soft, chill the wrapped sausages for a few minutes before baking.
