Ingredients

Equipment

  • small saucepan
  • teaspoon
  • fine mesh strainer
  • glass
  • stirring spoon

Method

  1. Bring the water to a boil, then remove it from the heat.
  2. Steep the chai tea bag or loose-leaf chai tea in the hot water for 4 to 5 minutes, depending on how strong you want the flavor.
  3. Remove the tea bag or strain out the loose tea, then stir in the sweetener and vanilla extract, if using.
  4. Let the tea cool for a few minutes, then pour it over a glass filled with ice.
  5. Add the almond milk or low-fat milk and stir well to combine.
  6. Top with a pinch of cinnamon, if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

Adjust the sweetener to taste, or leave it out for an unsweetened version. For a stronger chai flavor, steep the tea a little longer before cooling.
