Ingredients
Method
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until well combined, but do not overwork the meat.
- Divide the ground beef mixture into 8 equal portions and roll them into loose balls.
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and coat with butter or neutral oil.
- Place a ball of ground beef onto the hot skillet, then use a flat spatula to smash it down into a thin patty. Repeat for as many patties as will comfortably fit in the pan without overcrowding.
- Cook each patty for 2-3 minutes on the first side until the edges are crispy and browned. Flip the patty and place half a slice of cheddar cheese on top. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts and the patty is fully cooked.
- While the patties cook, warm the flour tortillas in a separate pan or directly over a flame until soft and pliable.
- Once the patties are cooked, place each patty in the center of a warm tortilla.
- Top each Smash Burger Taco with a small amount of diced onion, shredded lettuce, and diced tomatoes.
- In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard to create the burger sauce. Drizzle a small amount of the sauce over each taco.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your Smash Burger Tacos!
Notes
For extra flavor, try adding pickles or jalapeños as toppings. You can also use corn tortillas instead of flour tortillas for a different texture.
